Adaptive Enterprise UI Lab
An evolving enterprise UI reference implementation that connects deterministic application state, validation, authored product knowledge, response policy, and adaptive rendering, with later phases reserved for selective inference and runtime placement.

- Problem
- Enterprise interfaces often separate product knowledge, application state, guidance, and future intelligent capabilities into disconnected experiences.
- Built response
- Use one evolving reference application to study how those concerns can share explicit architectural boundaries while keeping application truth and response authority deterministic where possible.
Working Phase 1 Lab
Change the scenario and compare how a conventional interface and an adaptive interface respond to the same application truth.
Set the scenario outside the demo, then compare how two Data Connection forms respond to that same application truth. No AI, inference, or semantic retrieval is used.
Scenario controller
These controls set the test conditions. They are not part of either Data Connection form.

Demo workbench
Both forms receive the same application truth. The adaptive form adds only the intervention authorized by the resolver's evidence and response policy.
Conventional experience
Configuration
The form exposes the available values and leaves interpretation to the user.

Validation
Data Connection is required.
Applicable knowledge
Authored product guidance
Response policy
Explain the ambiguity; do not infer or preselect a value.
The knowledge fragments and rules in this lab are authored fixtures. The interface evaluates explicit conditions; it does not discover documents or generate guidance.
Interaction Boundary
The scenario controller sits outside the user task. It changes familiarity, version, and compatible options for both forms; each form then keeps its own selection and validation attempt.

Adaptive form
Same field and validation; applicable guidance and bounded policy add a response.
Selections and validation attempts stay independent; the demo resets them on a scenario change.
What Phase 1 Demonstrates
- Same truth, different interface policy. Both forms receive the same scenario, validation rule, and compatible options.
- Ambiguity limits authority. Several compatible Data Connections justify explanation and guidance, but not a guessed selection.
- Deterministic evidence can justify a stronger action. When exactly one compatible option remains, the resolver may offer it as an explicit user-accepted preconfiguration.
The companion Documentation-Driven Adaptive UX paper owns the fuller architectural model: state, validation, runtime context, authored knowledge, applicability, response policy, and rendering.
Next
The next extension is selective inference: natural-language intent or question mapping that proposes candidate product-knowledge concepts while deterministic applicability, application state, validation, and response policy remain authoritative.
If that capability proves useful, a later phase can evaluate where inference should run across browser-local, machine-local, server, edge, or cloud tiers. Runtime placement remains an execution decision, not a reason to weaken the deterministic core.
